Ten years too long a wait for safe path

A GRIEVING father’s patience has finally worn thin as a cycle path still remains unfinished ten years after his son was killed on the Rye Harbour danger road.

It is fair to say there have been problems and complications in getting the much needed cycle and pedestrian path completed, but surely these could, and should, have been resolved given the ten year time window.

Graham Matthews was a popular local man and the important thing to his father now is to ensure his death was not in vain and that measures are introduced to reduce the risk of it happening again.

Safety on that road is a known issue and action needs to be taken urgently.

In an unrelated accident on the same stretch of road a young Rye motorcylist lost his life last week.

Liam Moore was a popular and well loved young man who, it has been said this week, would do anything for anyone.

Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.
