Volunteer member – Littlehampton and District Lions Club

The aim of the Littlehampton and District Lions Club is to help people of all ages who are less fortunate than themselves through a wide variety of fundraising events and some hands on projects. The club needs to recruit some new members to bolster its membership. Members would be required to assist at fundraising events throughout the year such as fetes, carnivals and Christmas collections. No experience is required you just need to have a caring nature and a good sense of humour. Club meetings take place at The Dragon in Rustington on the first Wednesday of each month (starting at 8pm) but other events can take place at any time throughout the year.

IT club/silver surfers group leader – Angmering Community Centre Association

After the success of its Windows 7 training courses and drop-in sessions for people with specific problems on their laptops, the Angmering Community Centre Association is aiming to move the sessions on. Volunteers with a knowledge of smartphones and tablets are particularly needed for the drop-in sessions. In addition the centre is about to run short courses to help people new to Windows 10 on their laptops and would welcome a volunteer able to run such courses.

Walks leader – Arundel Museum Society

Arundel Museum Society offers guided town walks during the summer; these are either run in response to a group booking, or as part of an advertised walks programme. The museum wishes to extend these walks and a walk leader is required to learn a set route, and deliver a walking lecture on the selected aspect of local history. Group size is between eight and 20 people and a second volunteer accompanies the group as steward. Training will be provided. For this role you must be a confident and able presenter who is prepared to learn a script and deliver it with assurance, and answer additional questions. There may also be opportunities for dramatisation. You must have a good voice (capable of open air speaking in a noisy environment) and the ability to command attention.

Volunteer charity shop helper (Littlehampton) – Worthing Churches Homeless Projects

Worthing Churches Homeless Projects is a charity providing help and support to the local homeless community. Its charity shops sell a range of items including furniture, bric-a-brac and clothing, and also act as information points for anyone looking to find out more about its work. The charity is looking for volunteers to support the deputy managers in their roles and help with the general running duties of the shops. Volunteers will help create a friendly and welcoming environment for customers. Duties could include accepting general donations, sorting through the items and pricing them, helping with the shop displays and serving customers at the till.
