Working together

At Chestnut Tree House we pride ourselves on being experts in Children’s palliative care. We care for children with a vast array of health issues, and we do so throughout their short lives.

It is, therefore, important that we work closely with other professionals and with families to ensure that children with life-shortening conditions in Sussex are receiving the care they need and deserve.

This week we have invited representatives from the whole of the children’s palliative care community for a key discussion about care for children and young people with life-shortening conditions in Sussex.

The “square table” event will be moderated by Dr Hilary Cass, President of the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health and Trustee for Together for Short Lives, and will include medical professionals, commissioners, social, education and faith organisations, hospices and families of children and young people with life-shortening conditions.

Its aim is to provide a forum for these children and young people, their families and key carers to share their aspirations, views and concerns, allowing the palliative care community to develop local services.

It is a real honour to host this discussion and I truly believe we can make a real difference in Sussex.
