A right way and a wrong way to turn

I WAS amazed to read the letter from Barry Seeger (Gazette, June 17) regarding the roundabout on the A259 near Sainsbury's retail park.

The Highway code makes no distinction between single or dual carriageways when referring to roundabouts. I would advise Mr Seeger to read rule 186 (signals and position).

As for his statement that the "Highway Code does not come into any factor here", I hope he doesn't have to make this statement in a court of law any time soon!

The Highway Code is the motorists' "Bible" and should be read every September, which is the date that it is amended each year

Any fool who attempts to turn right from the nearside lane at any roundabout is just asking for trouble and would receive no sympathy from the police in the event of an accident.

I write as one who, until very recently, was a group observer for the Institute of Advanced Motorists and trained motorists to pass their advanced driving test.
