Airport would spell doom for Marsh

A better title for SOLA (Supporters Of Lydd Airport) would be DOOM (Destroyers Of the Old Marsh). Their indifference to what would be a tragedy for the unique and precious environment that is Romney Marsh is beyond belief.

This glorious, tranquil place has been preserved through the centuries in trust from one generation to the next. It is one of the few remaining wild places in south east England, and renowned as such throughout the world.

And yet these airport expansionist arrivistes are eager to betray its priceless beauty and tranquillity with thundering jets and traffic turmoil - for the handful of silver dangled before them by an airport business greedy for profit and by airport users for whom the Marsh would mean nothing but another point of transit.

It is 21st century materialistic madness.
