Battle Civil Parish Neighbourhood Plan will keep the vernacular style

I refer to the recent letter about the design of new housing at Blackfriars.

One of the stipulations of the Battle Civil Parish Neighbourhood Plan, which has now gone to Rother District Council for their consultation, is that all new buildings must comply with the Battle Civil Parish Design Guidelines.

Under the heading of the RDC Consultation on the website, (battleneighbourhoodplan.co.uk), can be found, in Annexe 1: Battle CP Design Guidelines. Rest assured, this document supports no “red brick suburban” type housing will be permitted. The style will have to be in keeping with the vernacular architecture of Battle and Sussex.

Enforcing the Battle CP Design Guidelines is conditional upon a “Yes” vote at the referendum (next year) on the Battle CP Neighbourhood Plan.
