Beach is for everyone

I TAKE exception to the byelaw proposals regarding fishing 'in such a manner as to cause danger, obstruction or annoyance to any person using the seashore'.

We invite friends and family to enjoy the seafront, the angling, restaurants and local shops in Bexhill.

On one occasion whilst angling I freed a screaming child who had wandered into a red flag area during a flood tide. (The child’s grandmother was completely unaware of the danger).

On one lug-worming trip, I was able to advise organisers of a children’s party regarding the invasion of weever fish on West Parade beach. My wife and I often spend time clearing litter - some dangerous - during fishing sessions.

I come here to enjoy all the facilities of the beach. Therefore, if the proposed new byelaws come into force we will sell our West Parade property and leave East Sussex to find a county which will be much friendlier to the angling fraternity.

The beach and sea front is for everyone to enjoy.
