Cafe has always been so friendly

I, along with many others, have been much saddened to hear of the imminent closure of Jempsons coffee shop and bakery at the Abbey Green.

It has been at the centre of Battle life for many years, and although the town has many pleasant cafeterias, Jempsons has arguably been the best. Reasonable prices, very good quality bread, cakes, pastries and rolls, etc, an interesting selection of newspapers and magazines to read and efficient and friendly service.

Being open from 7am to 6pm, local people could drop in on their way to and from work. Above all, it was the exceptional friendliness of the staff over a long period of time that has contributed to such an enviable reputation.

In my capacity as a registered guide I have had no hesitation in recommending it to visitors. Lets all hope they soon find new premises in the town.
