Dead flowers delivered

AFTER reading about problems with dead flowers arriving in the post (Observer, April 29) you may be interested to know this has now happened to me three times with flowers supplied by a company in Jersey.

It sent me three separate bouquets of carnations. The first arrived dead after being in the post for 10 days. I complained and the company sent me a second bouquet which took eight days to arrive.

I again sent photographs to the company, and this time to the Royal Mail as well, also ringing them to let them know that they had a problem somewhere in the delivery system. I finally received a decent bunch of carnations that came three days after posting (first class).

In March this year, my son and daughter-in-law, who live in Shropshire, sent me flowers for Mother’s Day. These consisted of five bunches of scented freesias and fern, with white gypsophilia.

After waiting patiently for the flowers to arrive I gave up and told my son to demand a refund. These flowers are not cheap and someone needs to take responsibility.

The flowers eventually arrived in a mouldy condition on April 12 - eight days after being sent by first class post. Something is going badly wrong with our deliveries in Bexhill, as this is obviously not an isolated incident.

Thank you for your time: I feel better for letting off steam
