Decision endorsed
THE joint eastern Arun area committee, meeting under the chairmanship of councillor Geraldine Walker, has now endorsed the earlier decision of its working group that the provision of a pedestrian/cycleway bridge over the railway at Mill Lane, Rustington, as part of the Sainsbury’s redevelopment, is necessary for safety reasons and that any planning permission granted should be subject to a contribution to this bridge through a section 106 agreement.
The joint committee further emphasised that it is in total agreement with the initiative shown by its working group, and requested that it should continue this work to achieve the satisfactory conclusion which, with the commendable support already given by Arun District Council as planning authority, is now feasible.
Initiative is now required from the Arun Business Partnership to ensure that Littlehampton benefits from the construction works and a goodwill gesture in providing design services might be a valuable catalyst.
