Disgust at dogs mess at Eastbourne beauty spot

Two senior citizens subject to the lockdown, we decided to take some permitted exercise in Friston Forest, to enjoy the bright, if cold, weather and the fresh air.

What should have been a pleasurable experience was spoiled as we were shocked to discover the amount of dog mess on every path we walked, apart from a number of abandoned poop bags for which there can be no excuse.

I have a poor sense of smell but once we got back in the car my wife immediately noticed an unpleasant stench.

On examination, both pairs of our shoes were covered in dog excrement, which when we got home, required an enormous effort to clean.

Dog owners need to demonstrate a better degree of responsibility.

This might only apply to a few, but those few need to shape up.

With all the autumn leaves underfoot, it is very easy to step in something unpleasant.
