Hastings roadworks caused chaos around A21 and the Ridge

And the 2020 award for the most bonkers road works goes to ... whoever closed off Junction Road between Ridge West and the A21 without prior notice and without bothering to put up diversionary signs for traffic coming from the Eastbourne/Battle direction.

On the third Saturday before Christmas, drivers heading for Sainsbury’s were doing several rotations of the Baldslow Road roundabout trying to find a way to the store. Even worse off were drivers coming up Queensway and desperately trying to find their way to the A21 and London. They probably ended up in Rye.

With no advance warning signs, drivers from the east trying to get to the A21 were similarly navigating the Link Road/Ridge West roundabout and probably ending up in Emmaus.

The junction is spaghetti at the best of times but this was way pasta a joke! I suspect more to come while we wait endlessly for our new ‘Gateway’ road to be completed.
