Just accept it '“ thousands don't want Eco-Town
I respond to Tony Dixon's letter published October 2, 2008, regarding the Ford Airfield housing development.
It seemed clear most people had made up their minds at the earlier proposal put forward by the Ford Enterprise Hub, the developers and landowners, where thousands of local people signed a petition against the development and only hundreds attended the three presentation meetings held by the proposers.

Hide AdThe early proposals put forward proved to be unworkable and did not meet the criteria laid down by the government for an Eco-Town.
The final submission which we are asked to consider and might change our minds is very glossy but seems to be for a housing development, not an Eco-Town.
There are pictures of solar plant to generate energy, but where are they going to place them, so do they expect us to be convinced without concrete facts?
The ideas for producing energy seem to have run out, with the use of the sun, the wind and the River Arun proving unworkable.

So what does the Ford Enterprise Hub propose now for producing energy to meet the Eco-Town criteria?
Will not the Ford Enterprise Hub accept the majority of people do not want the proposals put forward, which is a housing development, not an Eco-Town?
Thank you for publishing thoughts of ordinary people, not rich or powerful.
