Launch party for plant nursery a huge success

Innovative grower and garden design specialists, Architectural Plants Ltd, now in their 25th anniversary year, hosted an exclusive launch event following relocation to their new, state of the art nursery in Pulborough, West Sussex, next to the Brinsbury Campus.

Angus White, founder of Architectural Plants, explained how he had first conceived his dream for this 32 acre development back in 1995.

He was followed by celebrity speaker and modern day plant hunter, Tom Hart Dyke. The famous adventurer related his early fascination for exotic plants and for what Angus had created back in 1990, as well as his enthralling experiences travelling the world in search of rare species. These exotic tales included his establishment of the UK’s first ever ‘World Garden of Plants’ at Lullingstone Castle in Kent and gripping details of his kidnapping in the Colombian jungle whilst searching for rare orchids.

Attendees enjoyed private guided tours of the new nursery and experienced the stunning views, plants and unique charm for themselves.

Following the tours, guests enjoyed delicious afternoon tea and cakes courtesy of resident café operator, Panino, A presentation by Guy Watts, co-founder of award winning social enterprise, Streetscape, preceded a silent auction of an Ilex Crenata Niwaki which raised £700 for the charity. Based in London, Streetscape provides apprenticeships in landscape gardening to young people who are long term unemployed.

Tom Hart Dyke commented: “It was fantastic to be part of Architectural Plants’ official launch event. Having dedicated almost my entire life to plants, it’s great to see a company that shares my love for all things horticultural. Everyone was in great spirits and seemed to thoroughly enjoy not only seeing the new site for themselves and perusing the incredible selection of plants but also having the chance to make the most of the expert opinions from Architectural Plants’ knowledgeable staff.”

Angus White, founder of Architectural Plants, added: “We had a wonderful time on Thursday and would like to thank everyone that attended. It meant so much to us to share the experience with our many customers including landscape designers, property developers, journalists and, of course, the general public.”
