Local mysteries unlocked

IN response to the letter from B. White of Angmering (Gazette, January 21), and for the benefit of readers, the butcher's shop on the corner of New Road, Littlehampton, was known under the following names: 1914, G. Cocksedge; 1938, A. Cocksedge; 1953, E. C. Chippington; 1963, A. Wilkin; 1968-69, nos. 9-13 had become part of John Eede Butt & Sons.

The butcher's shop was no. 9 New Road. All this information comes from street directories.

As regards a photo of the premises, I feel it will be a long hunt, but good luck.
