Our unsung hero

I HAVE to defend the “old man in Lob’s Wood with his big black dogs”, referred to by L. Moore (Gazette letters, February 3).

I believe the man referred to is the same who carries a black sack and a litter-picking device and who clears of litter a considerable length of the town streets as he walks his dogs, who are extremely well disciplined.

I have not made a point of specifically observing myself, but it is unlikely that this gentleman allows his dogs to foul the streets or the wood.

From my point of view, he is instead an unsung hero.

And he’s not old – he’s about my age!
