Response at last

THANK you for publishing my letter in the Bexhill Observer on Friday July 1, which related to Rother District Council's failure to answer my request for information under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 after some 33 working days, let alone within the 20 days allowed by law.

However the very next day (July 2) I received in response to the press article a letter from a Mr Edwards, the council’s solicitor, in which he described the council’s failure to comply with the law as ‘unfortunate’.

What a shame the council had been unable to use the same speed and effort to reply to my legal request under the Act. Then none of this would hve been necessary and time saved by all concerned.
