Style over service

I understand that all services, including housing, are to be accommodated under the same roof.

There are so many other important needs in Littlehampton which affect residents and visitors alike on a daily basis. The following are but a few:

* the very serious safety hazard of flooding after heavy rain in Sea Road;

* the enormous number of potholes, not always dealt with after being reported;

* severe restriction of library opening hours – a service which is desperately needed in Littlehampton;

* the use of the streets for traders selling motor vehicles, taking up parking spaces;

* the lack of a dog warden;

* restricted funding to voluntary organisations.

Very soon, council tax bills will be dropping through the letter box. We are very pleased with anything which raises the status of the town, but is this the right way to spend £500,000 in these times of such financial restraint?

We taxpayers must feel that our money is being spent wisely and for essential purposes only.
