Thanks for helping

SHORTLY after the first of the heavy snow my wife and I were unfortunately involved in an accident in Old London Road, Hastings, when our car skidded on the untreated surface and came to rest against a lamp-post.

Fortunately, neither of us were hurt and neither were any pedestrians, though we were in a mild state of shock.

People appeared as if from nowhere to ensure that we were alright and one couple - name and address unknown - offered us refreshment and even a bed for the night, if it were required.

Another car driver, David Pickup, stopped to help and very kindly brought us home to Bexhill once we had sorted ourselves out.

Through your columns, may we pass on our grateful thanks to these good Samaritans who without hesitation helped us both during this traumatic event.

It is good to know that despite all the gloom and doom reported by the press and news channels, there are still many people around us that offer assistance when the need arises.
