What an unforgettable weekend of celebrations!

We asked you to send in pictures of your Diamond Jubilee events and you did us proud.

The occasional downpour did little to dampen the enthusiasm of those taking part in the many events.

Firemen at Brede huddled under an umbrella to keep a barbecue going, while residents of Rye’s New Winchelsea Road smiled through Sunday’s rain to hold a regatta on the river.

It was a fantastic weekend of fly-pasts, flags, flaming beacons and fireworks.

The thing that really stood out for us though was the sense of community spirit.

It is wonderful that is such a high-tech hectic world there is still time and space for the simple pleasure of coming together and having fun.

We also have a lasting legacy of the Jubilee with a beautiful new clock on Beckley School, a new hedgerow at Guestling and a commemorative oak tree being planted at Rye.

The celebrations may be over but the memories will live on for many years to come.
