Mary Hitchins, 2 The Old Hop Gardens

Next Saturday October 12 sees the Opening Ceremony of the Memorial Hall. Everyone in the village should have received an invitation with this month’s Peasmarsh Periodical; it will be an excellent chance to come and see the amazing transformation of our hall. There will be refreshments and a selection from the Village Archive. The Opening Ceremony will be performed by Andy McConnell who is the glass expert on the Antiques Roadshow and the proprietor of Glass Etc. in Rye. Hope to see lots of you there at 3pm!

The Lunch Club at the Memorial hall will be starting on Monday October 7 at 1pm; a two course meal will cost £5.50. Tickets need to have been purchased by lunchtime today (Friday).

At Christmas, the Charity, Link to Hope (formerly Link Romania) organise the collection of shoeboxes filled with gifts for very poor families and elderly people living alone in Romania, Moldova, Albania, Bulgaria and the Ukraine. These people live in terrible conditions in shanty towns, and even disused containers, often with no electricity or running water. These gifts are everyday items such as soap, toothpaste, shampoo, combs, socks, crayons and colouring books etc. Your gift of a shoebox would bring such happiness to the people who receive them. If you would like to support the Link to Hope shoebox appeal this year then please collect a leaflet from Peasmarsh Church or contact Sue Cavilla Tel: 230431. Special thanks to Peasmarsh School who are already supporting this Charity. Please telephone Sue to arrange collection if required. Shoeboxes need to be ready by Sunday October 27 please

The services at Peasmarsh church this Sunday will be Holy Eucharist at 10am and Evensong at 3pm. There will be a Harvest Festival service at Beckley church at 10am on Sunday October 13.
