PEASMARSH MUSIC FESTIVAL :The fourth annual Peasmarsh Chamber Music Festival took place at our church last weekend, with seven events in the church itself, and an orchestral concert with the London Mozart Players under the baton of Jaime Martin at St Mary’s Church Rye.International Guest Performers came from all over the world, New York, Sweden, Serbia, and Holland to join Musical Directors Anthony Marwood and Richard Lester, and the guest artist and composer in residence was one of Britain’s outstanding composers, Huw Watkins. Between concerts patrons enjoyed the sunshine in the beautiful churchyard and the meals on offer in the marquee, or picnicked under the trees.

Students from years 4 and 5 at Peasmarsh School and years 3 and 4 at Beckley were lucky enough to taker part in the PCMF Trust’s Education Workshop which is sponsored by the Rudi Martinus van Dijk Foundation. Working with Sam Glazer and the Trio Isimsiz each group composed words and music for a song inspired by a musical theme which they performed with the Trio under Sam’s direction at a Concert on Friday to the amazement and delight of a capacity audience.Congratulations and thanks to all those who work so hard to make this Festival such a success, and to the patrons who come from far and wide to enjoy the music.Long may it continue!
