It is the brainchild of St Mary’s Church warden, Ann Kaiser, and is dedicated to Ann’s late husband and local chef, René Kaiser.

The book is part of the church’s 800 Appeal which is aiming to raise funds to finance repairs and the refurbishment of the church, and it is the only fundraiser in the appeal to not be postponed due to Covid-19.

The Rector, Rev Canon Paul Seaman, said: “We are especially pleased to dedicate this book to the memory of René Kaiser who has been a friend of many people in this parish, and will have an honoured place in the history of our village.

“Many will have enjoyed the fruits of his culinary skills when he and Ann owned ‘Stane Street Hollow’, the Swiss restaurant on Codmore Hill and recall his ability to give everything that extra bit of flavour!

Assisted by Toni Hayes, Ann gathered contributions from around 50 people including professional colleagues of René, whose own recipes are also featured in the book.

With the printing costs sponsored by Comyn & James, estate agents of Lower Street, Pulborough, the cookbook is now available to buy for 800 pence (£8).
