Flooding closes part of Hastings promenade

The incident happened during the afternoon and part of the promenade was closed off.

A Southern Water spokesperson said: “We are aware of flooding in Denmark Place on Wednesday following heavy rainfall. Initial investigations indicate this happened due to a drainage pipe containing surface water from nearby Alexandra Park being blocked by stones and shingle. Specialist teams attended, and were able to clear the blockage and prevent further flooding."
