Hastings power cut leaves residents without electricity
A power cut in parts of Hastings led to residents losing their electricity supply yesterday evening (Thursday, July 22).
According to UK Power Networks, the fault affected homes in the TN34 1 postcode area.
On its tracking service on its website, the company said it first identified the fault at around 12.15pm.
Engineers arrived on site just before 2.40pm, the company added, carrying out investigations into the fault.
However, UK Power Networks said a specialist engineer had to be called out after a fault with underground cabling was discovered.
It added teams carried out excavation work in order to get to the faulty underground cable so it could be repaired.
A spokesman for UK Power Networks said: “Our engineers worked as quickly as possible to restore electricity supplies to 23 properties in the Wykeham Road area of Hastings yesterday.
“Following a fault on an underground cable at 12.15pm, engineers reconnected power to 12 customers by 4.23pm and to a further 10 properties by 1.35am.
“Access was needed this morning to restore the final supply. We are sorry for any inconvenience this caused.”
