Man charged with drink driving following car crash near Horam

A man has been charged with drink-driving offence following a car crash that lead to the A267 being closed in both directions.

Police were called to a crash involving a Seat and a Vauxhall on the A267 North Street, Hellingly, just after 4pm on Thursday (December 1).

The collision meant the road was closed both ways at Wellshurst Golf Club.

Police said the driver of the Seat was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

Gerard Campbell, 58, was later charged with driving a vehicle above the legal alcohol limit.

Police say he will appear in court on December 21 to answer the charge.
