Motorcyclist in his 70s taken to hospital with ‘potentially life threatening’ injuries following collision between Exceat and Friston

A 73-year-old motorcyclist was taken to hospital by air ambulance with ‘potentially life threatening’ injuries following a collision on the A259 between Exceat and Friston, police have said.

Officers said they are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage following the ‘serious’ collision on Monday, January 30.

A Sussex Police spokesperson added: “The collision between a van and motorcycle happened around 4.30pm – which resulted in the road being closed for several hours.

“Following the collision the rider of the motorcycle, a 73-year-old man, was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital by air ambulance with serious, potentially life threatening or life changing injuries.

“A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and has been release on bail until April 30 while enquiries continue.”

Officers are keen to speak with a moped rider with learner plates who was ahead of the collision, according to police.
