The former care home on fire
These pictures show the fire at the former Mount Denys care home in full, from its beginning in the early hours of the morning to the aftermath.
Firefighters battled so save the former care home in The Ridgefrom around 1.55am, according to a spokesman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service. Eight fire engines were called to the blaze when it was at its height This was the third fire at the derelict building in under a month At least one aerial ladder platform was deployed to access the flames from above Engines gradually left the scene as crews got the fire under control later on in the morning. Firefighters finally got the blaze fully extinguished in the early afternoon and left the scene at 12.55pm Crews returned shortly before 4pm for an inspection to ensure the fire was still extinguished. The cause of the fire has not been identified, according to the fire service, but Sussex Police are investigating. Crews are awaiting security fencing to be put in place around the perimeter of the derelict property.
