But due to the coronavirus outbreak, a host of events planned for the town have been cancelled and he, like the rest of us, has had to put everything on hold.
However, this has not stopped Jason from carrying out his civic duties while in lockdown.

Hide AdHe has written a cry for the NHS, which he plans to shout to the public as soon as lockdown is over.
He said: “I am always writing cries I suppose as that is my civic function. It came about as there is not a lot going on at the moment.
“I’m a police officer in Brighton and it made me think a lot about all the challenges and strain on the emergency services – so I wrote this cry.
“It was just a joy to write it. I have always romanticised the NHS – it is the joy in the crown.”

Hide AdJason said since taking up the role as town crier a couple of years ago, it has been a ‘ball’.
“It is a lot of fun – I have met so many lovely people,” he said.
“I have not been heckled yet, which is great. There is a lot to cry about – there are a lot of events here.”
Jason’s cry:
A Cry for the National Health Service
Town Criers, wherever you may be
Shout for brave workers in our country.
Who, in our darkest peace-time hour,
Never stop, and never cower.
The tireless heroes of our N.H.S.
Who, in vicious times, are humanity’s best.
Let’s raise our voices here, all gather round,
To give thanks to these heroes in every town.
That caring army, never faulting,
Never failing, never halting.
Since nineteen hundred and forty eight
Our N.H.S. has been a jewel in this State.
And when the virus arrived on these shores,
Our N.H.S. stepped bravely up to the cause.
Our health system, which was born out of war,
Works hard in this battle, and fights for us all.
Its clinicians and cleaners and carers and staff
From cradle-to-grave, remain in our hearts.
Its clinicians and cleaners and carers and staff
From cradle-to-grave, remain in our hearts.
God bless the institution and staff of the National Health Service.
God Save the Queen.
