Mary Saint, Pett Road

Pett WI had an extremely successful AGM on Friday November 16. Not only did they elect a new president, Heather Godwin, and saw two new members join the Committee, they also celebrated Pett WI’s 95th birthday in some style. There was a celebratory tea and a magnificent cake, which had been made by Joss Coby, as well as a glass of bubbly to enjoy with it.

In 2013 Pett WI is looking to build on its achievements of the last 12 months, which saw the outstandingly successful Jubilee Lunch as well as a 25% increase in membership. It cannot afford to rest upon its laurels with its centenary just four years away but with a programme of interesting and predominantly local speakers to look forward to in 2013, it should be off to a good start.

Church Services on Sunday November 25 – Parish Communion, St Mary and St Peter, Pett at 9:30am; Sunday Service at the Methodist Chapel at 10:45am.

Don’t forget: the Pett Village Hall Committee sub-committee, formed to address the hall’s major funding problem, is holding its first meeting on Monday November 26 in Pett Village Hall at 6:30pm. The meeting will be an open one so do come along and lend your support.

Also on Monday November 26 the Village Choir will meet again at 7:30pm in Pett Methodist Chapel.

POPP on Tuesday November 27 will feature Tai Chi with Annie Cryer. The session runs from 10:30am to 2:30pm and will include a two-course lunch for just £5.

The Mobile Library will be in Pett and Pett Level on Wednesday November 28. It will start at the Church at 10.10am, moving on to Chick Hill at 10:50am and finishing at The Smuggler at 11.20am.

The Friends of Pett Churches will be hosting a Christmas Coffee Morning and Fayre, at Pett Village Hall, on Saturday December 8 from 10am-12pm. There will be seasonal refreshments and a raffle. The village choir will be singing Christmas songs. A local nursery will be selling plants and gifts and there will be stalls with a variety of goods, including homemade cakes and sweets.
All proceeds will go to the maintenance of the Church building and churchyard. The organisers would be grateful for offers of help or goods to sell. If you are able to help, please contact Jillian Green, details in Pett Parish News.
