Our front page in Rye leads with public reaction to Rye Academy Trust’s decision to not take on any year 10 and year 12 students at Rye Studio School over the next academic year, starting in September.

The move is due to the trust having to rein in on its spending.

A protest was held this week by students and parents as a result of the announcement. Turn to pages 3, 4 and 5 for full coverage of the story.

Our front page for Battle features traders’ concerns over a lack of parking enforcement. They say that, together with high parking charges, are keeping customers away and driving businesses out of town.

Headteachers in East Sussex have also launched a campaign calling for fairer funding for schools.

They said secondary schools could each lose six teachers and primary school could lose two if more money is not provided by the government.
