Battle residents ‘should be proud’ of how they rallied round hundreds of runners at the town’s annual 10k event, the race’s director has said.
Matt Southam said Sunday’s race (6 September) was the ‘busiest one yet’.
He said: “We had so many comments from runners saying they were encouraged by incredible support from the town.
“It was a fantastic day, with an atmosphere that can only be good for Battle.”
More than 500 people entered, with 440 setting off from the start line on the High Street.
Darryl Hards took first place with a new course record of 31:28.
The annual event is a major fundraiser for the Battel Bonfire Boyes.
More results, pictures and reaction will be published in the sport section of the Observer.
