Plans to revitalise Bishopric area of Horsham town centre to be on show

Horsham District Council is looking to change the layout of the pedestrian area to make it more attractive for visitors, alongside Westrock’s redevelopment of Bishops Weald House and the planned Waitrose and John Lewis At Home stores off Albion Way.

The designs will be on show at unit number eight on the north side of the Bishopric from Thursday October 16 to Saturday October 18 from 10am-4pm. Officers will be on hand to gather feedback.

There will also be a display in Swan Walk Shopping Centre outside Wilkinson from October 19 to 28.

Helena Croft (Con, Roffey North), deputy leader and cabinet member for communication, Horsham town and special projects, said: “We have a one-off chance to create new opportunities for social interaction in Bishopric and to make the place more active.

“Although we are in the initial stages of planning the improvements, we would welcome feedback from the public at this time to help us to form our recommendations.”

A number of ideas have been developed with the help of Land Use Consultants, who have created a blank canvas for the public space together with a range of ‘pick and mix’ proposals.

West Sussex County Council will also be displaying a package of sustainable transport improvements.

The designs will be available from October 16 to view on HDC’s website.
