December tomorrow. How is your shopping and card writing coming along?

The Murder Mystery Evening run by the Friends of Playden Church was a very happy occasion. The supper was delicious, prepared by Viv, Heather and C.J. and much appreciated. Helen rehearsed the players and all was revealed at the end. And, no, it wasn’t the Butler.

St. Michael’s Church has its Christmas Sale tomorrow, Saturday 30th November at 10.30 am until 1.30 pm. It will take place in the church, and there will be refreshments, cakes, plants, books, bric-a-brac, gifts and crafts. There will also be a Raffle. This will be an ideal place to find that small present for Christmas.

The Playden Floral Group will probably have a meeting on Monday at 2.15 in the Playden W. I. Hall. The meeting at this time of year is usually a social time with mince pies and tea, when plans are made for the coming year. If this is all wrong, I do apologise. Ring Joan on 22 25 83 to get better details.

The Parish Council will next meet on Thursday 5th December at 7.30 pm in the W. I. Hall. There will be an opportunity for members of the public to raise an queries or concerns with Council members, ESCC and RDC councillors.

There will be a Recycle Swap Shop at Tilling Green Community Centre on Saturday 30th November from 9.30 to 12 noon. Bring and/or take unwanted items for FREE. (No electrical or large furniture please.) Refreshments will be available.

Rye and District Camera Club will hear a selection of talks and Instruction by members in the W.I. Hall on Monday evening at 7.30 pm.

For more than 20 years I have enjoyed writing the columns for Village Voice. It all began when I interviewed Ernie Burt when he retired from the Parish Council. Now the time has come to seek another correspondent because I am moving away from Playden. Not too far away, so I’ll still see you around, but I feel that if one is not in the village, it is not possible to pass on news.

If someone out there would like to represent Playden, and possibly Iden as well, please let me know, and I will give you some details.

There will be an 11 am service in Playden Church on Sunday, which is Advent Sunday.
