Police alert as village is hit by more burglaries

POLICE say they are working hard to catch the perpetrators of two recent break-ins at Peasmarsh.

A garage and shed was broken into at School Lane between 5.30pm on January 16 and 7.30am on January 17.

A caravan park at Main Street was broken into and items of value stolen on January 17.

Sergeant Warren Downs, of Rye Police, said: “We do not believe these burglaries to be linked to the spate of dwelling breaks we suffered recently.

“Extra vigilance is needed from all resident’s and if you ever see anything suspicious, report it to us immediately. Please consider the security of your home, this includes garages and sheds. If you own a rural premises or farm, secure your farming machinery and vehicles, particularly quad and motorbikes.”
