Police could move into Bognor Regis town hall

POLICE officers could soon have a base in Bognor Regis Town Hall.

The prospect has moved closer with a trial project between Sussex Police and Arun District Council which was launched on Monday at the council’s civic centre in Littlehamptin.

A police officer is staffing a front counter for two afternoons a week. The service will be extended to Bognor if it succeeds.

Sussex Police’s Arun district commander, Chief Inspector Jane Derrick, said: “It’s really important to me that we try to make ourselves as visible and accessible to as many people as possible in Arun.”

Nigel Lynn, the council’s chief executive, said: “Many council services link with the police so having local police officers in the building makes working together easier.”
