One of the men had been seen in a resident’s garden, but when challenged by a neighbour, said he was looking for scrap metal.

But police believe the man was attempting to steal items from the garden.

The man caught in the garden was described as white, in his late 30s to 40s, 5ft10 in height, of stocky build, with a round face and balding, wearing overall-type trousers and a grey sweatshirt.

The driver was described as a white man in his early 30s and of average build.
