Horsham District residents and visitors are about to be ‘totally spooked out' this Halloween, as part of a new Halloween-themed interactive digital story trail.

Delivered by geogaming platform High Street Safari, the free trail can be completed on a smartphone and there is no need to register or download an app. The trail is now live for families to enjoy in Billingshurst, Henfield, Horsham, Steyning and Storrington high streets until October 31.

Funded by Horsham District Council and organised by local community groups, the fun trail takes about forty-five minutes to complete and seeks to encourage the public to explore Horsham District’s high streets by taking part in a mission to investigate a spooky spectral sighting.

This Halloween, the trail’s team of heroes ‘The Luminauts’ are inviting young recruits and assigning them with an exciting mission to find ‘The Queen of Halloween’ who has mysteriously gone missing. To find her, players will be asked to visit 10 colourful Halloween mask designs in shop windows of their chosen high street.

The trail is designed to be fun and interactive, with players having the ability to try on the digital Halloween masks and even take selfies wearing them on their phones. You will then be able to reveal the full spooky creatures inhabiting the masks in all their glory, such as witches, mummies, and ghouls. Along the way you can also choose how the story evolves, so you can enjoy your own unique experience of the spooky story. Once the trail has been completed you will be rewarded with a free digital fun-pack to download.

To get involved in the trail this Halloween and to find how to play, all you need to do is visit the High Street Safari website and choose your high street using the drop-down menu: https://highstreetsafari.com/spookingout. You will then be able to view the trail map detailing the 10 participating businesses or venues, which you will be able to visit to find the masks and ‘collect’ them by scanning the QR code in the windows.

The adventures don’t stop here. Keep an eye out for another seasonal story trail which is set to take place this Christmas.
