The Newhaven lifeboat was paged at 9:28am to reports of a car over the cliffs at the old radar station, near Rushey Hill caravan park.

The lifeboat and coastguard teams did a search to the east and west of the car to see if anyone could be on the beach or in the water but nothing was found.

Coastguards put a cliff man down to the burnt out car and confirmed that no one was inside. The car was stuck about quarter of the way down the cliff.

The understanding is that the car went over the previous day at some point.

A Sussex Police spokesperson confirmed they were notified of a car over the cliff at Rushey Hill Caravan Park, The Highway, Peacehaven.
