Film Club: on the 19th October film evening starting at 7.30pm at Robertsbridge Village Hall the film is ‘The Darkest Hour’.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to our harvest celebrations. From harvest supper on Friday night to the festival in church on Sunday morning, everyone did a great job. The church looked particularly beautiful full of autumn colours so thanks to all those who decorated the church over the weekend. Fresh produce has gone to the Seaview project and donations of £320 from the supper have been sent to the Hastings food bank.

DARTS: With the Robertsbridge & District Darts and Pushpenny League suspended for 1 year due to the lack of teams Robertsbridge Club started their Friday night season in the Heathfield Darts League and won 8-3 at Heathfield Rugby Club with singles wins for Pete Giles, David Goodsell, Kevin Whiteman, Gary Honeysett and Guy Ballard. David/Guy won their Pairs match while Coral Giles/Guy/David and Pete/Gary/Kevin both won their trebles. There were 100+ scores for Guy[136,124,100], Gary[130,125], Coral[117,112], David[100x2] and Kevin[100].

FOOTBALL: The Bridge 1st XI climbed to third in the Macron East Sussex Football League Premier Division after their 2-1 win at local rivals Hawkhurst United. The Bridge took the lead after just 11 minutes when man of the match Charlie Burns netted and for the rest of the half neither side could find the net. The second period saw both sides attack but again no goals until the 77th minute when Hawkhurst levelled but The Bridge pressed hard for the winner and that came on 87 minutes when Guy Ballard headed home for his first goal of the season. The 2nd team hosted The J.C.Tackleway II in Division 2 and played their worst game of the season losing 5-0. The tie was all over in the first half hour when poor defending allowed the visitors a 4-0 lead at the break however despite the visitors increasing their lead 5 minutes after the re-start stout defending, especially by man of the match James Baldock-Apps, kept the score to 5-0. Tomorrow the 1st team are at home to Sidley United while the 2nd team are away to Catsfield with both matches K.O. 3p.m.

A couple of moans now I’m afraid. Firstly in Bishops Lane between the Railway Bridge and the White Bridge over the stream, The ditches were looking great after having been trenched ready for the winter weather onslaught. Within the first day someone managed to fly tip some cupboard doors and bits straight into the ditch. There is no reason for this to happen other than laziness, please consider why the ditch is there and why it has been cleared if you are that person who left your rubbish behind.

Secondly a friend of mine who lives on Mill Rise had their car keyed recently. Not just a scratch but big gouges into the paintwork, if you know who did this could you please either let myself or Sandie know, and again this is thoughtless behaviour. This is not the first time that this has happened as a car was done in the Bishops Lane area over a month ago. Please look out for each other and your properties, if you see something, either phone the police or take a few details to try and stop this mindless behaviour.
