Robertsbridge Saturday Market: is taking place tomorrow 6th October at Robertsbridge Hall between 10am – 12 noon. There will be many stalls, a butcher, fresh veg, cakes, pies and cheese, plant stalls and craft and handicrafts. Sunday lunch buying without leaving the village. Go along catch up with friends and have a lovely coffee at the WI café.

Monthly film nights - are starting again on Friday 19th October at Robertsbridge Hall with the evening starting at 7.30pm. This takes place every 3rd Friday of the month during the winter. This month the film is `The Darkest Hour`.

Robertsbridge Bonfire Society: is holding its last Fundraiser before the bonfire Season gets under way. This is a Clay Pigeon Shoot on Sunday 7th October at Normanhurst Estate in Catsfield TN339DJ. Registration opens at 12.30.

Robertsbridge Arts Partnership: is presenting a show called `Horses! Horses! ` at The George on Sunday 7th October. This evening is to include food at 6.30pm with the show at 7.30pm. Tickets of £12.50 include one course meal. This show is a raucous and funny tale about a man trying to win his wife back by launching a fund raising event, which includes pub gamers, pints, crisps, music and a bit of Morris Dancing. Judges and Village Stores have tickets.

Short Mat Bowls: is starting up on Monday 8th October at Robertsbridge Hall at 8pm. If you fancy trying it or you already play feel free to go along. Call Roger on 07775545806 for any further information.

Robertsbridge Jazz Club: is on Thursday 11th October at Robertsbridge Hall between 8pm – 10.30pm. Tickets available at Judges for £8 or £10 on the door. 01580880274 for details.

FOOTBALL: For the first time this season both Robertsbridge United F.C’s. teams won with the 1st team winning 4-3 against Bexhill A.A.C. in the Macron East Sussex Football League Premier Division while the 2nd team won 3-2 at Sandhurst in the 1st Round of the Wisdens Sports Challenge Cup. It took The Bridge 1st team 34 minutes to break down a dogged Bexhill A.A.C. side when Curtis Coombes netted and just 5 minutes later man of the match Coombes scored his second for a half time lead. The visitors levelled the tie early in the second half with two goals but in a frantic final 10 minutes The Bridge took the lead through Phil Green on 80 minutes and substitute Austin Galea netted four minutes later but Bexhill came back and scored with minutes left and in the final minute of the match the visitors were awarded a penalty and for the second week running Bridge keeper Grant Lewis saved the spot kick to earn The Bridge all three points. The 2nd team travelled the short distance to Division 3 side Sandhurst and were two down after just 15 minutes but The Bridge finally scored a goal, their first of the season, when good work from Dave Seal ended with Jason Marsh smashing the ball home on 25 minutes and 10 minutes later Paul Rockett fired home to level the match at the break. The second period saw very few chances until 5 minutes from the end when the hosts were denied a goal with a point blank save from Bridge keeper Aaron Ottley but with just a minute left man of the match Marsh fired home the winner to take the Bridge into the second round and a home tie against Division 3 side Bexhill A.A.C. II. Tomorrow the 1st team host Northiam ‘75 K.O. 3p.m. while the 2nd team are away to Rock-a-Nore at Tilekiln in the 1st Round of the Hastings F.A. Junior Cup sponsored by Wisdens(Hastings) Ltd. K.O. 2.30p.m. hoping to avenge their earlier 5-0 league defeat in September.
