FOOTBALL: Both Robertsbridge United Football Club teams are still looking for their first wins of the season after both sides lost the ‘double header’ against Sedlescombe Rangers last week. The 1st team started well with man of the match Charlie Burns scoring after just 1 minute but Rangers hit back during the half and despite a goal from defender Ben Hardy just before the break The Bridge were still behind. The second period did not see much improvement until Hardy scored his second on 70 minutes but the damage had been done by then as Rangers ended winning 7-3. The young second team were outclassed by a strong Rangers second team who were a goal up after 10 minutes but The Bridge should have levelled on 20 minutes but Jason Marsh’ shot went the wrong side of the post and by the break Rangers were 4-0 up. The second half saw the Bridge fail to have a shot despite the efforts of man of the match Paul Rockett trying his best with Rangers dominating the half and running out 9-0 winners. Tomorrow the 1st team are at home to newly promoted Bexhill A.A.C. K.O. 3p.m. while the 2nd team visit Sandhurst in the 1st Round of the Wisdens Sports Challenge Cup K.O. 2.30p.m. A reminder of the ‘Race Night’ on Saturday 13th October 2018 at Robertsbridge Club with the first race at 7p.m. This is a free entry evening so why not come and have some fun with The Bridge.
