FOOTBALL: The Bridge 1st team played away to Rye United in the Macron East Sussex Football League Premier Division and came away with a point in a goalless draw. There were few chances for either side during the first period and in the second half both teams again squandered chances until the dying minutes when the hosts won a penalty after Bridge keeper Grant Lewis pushed their forward to the ground but he made amends pushing the penalty kick round the post for a corner. As the corner came in Ben Hardy was adjudged to have fouled and another penalty was awarded and again Lewis saved the spot kick to earn The Bridge a point. In Division 2 The Bridge 2nd team hosted Rock-a-Nore hoping to gain their first points of the season but the inexperience of a young side told early on when the visitors scored after just 5 minutes and by the half time break The Rocks were 4-0 in front. Manager Nick Townsend’ half time talk saw The Bridge play a lot better in the second period with man of the match Michael Morgan working hard but The Rocks had a penalty awarded after Andy Barden had fouled but the spot kick was put wide. The Bridge lack a goal scorer and The Rocks scored again on the final whistle to win 5-0.
