SCHOOL CLOSED OVER WATER CONTAMINATION FEARS
ALL 850 pupils at Chailey Secondary School were sent home today (Thursday) after building contractors advised teachers that they had found an underground oil leak which could have affected the school's water supply.
A school spokesman said the water supply had been cut off in the interests of safety. There were therefore no drinking water or toilet facilities.
Headteacher Lesley Young said: 'It was a major disappointment then to have to close the school.
