Now we are truly in Spring with lighter evenings and plenty of Spring flowers to enjoy along with milder weather, no more torrential rain, small showers are just fine for now.

There are just two more Lent lunches on this Friday April 4 and the next, at 2 Forge Cottages, The Green from 12noon to 1.30pm. They are going very well with lots of old friends and new joining in on these lovely Spring Fridays. Did you receive flowers for Mother’s Day and wish you could be more creative with them than just putting in water in a vase? Sedlescombe and District Flower club will be going “Around the world in 80 minutes” when Christine Brazier comes to demonstrate at the village hall on Wednesday April 9. There will be time during the evening for tea and coffee and a chat, floral accessories are also on offer for sale at very keen prices. Zambia in Sedlescombe! Pestalozzi’s popular series of cultural events continues with an African theme. Enjoy informative displays, exciting performances and tasty regional food on Thursday April 10, 6:30pm at Swiss Hall, Pestalozzi, Ladybird Lane, Sedlescombe, TN33 0UF. Sedlescombe & District Garden Society are continuing their 2014 programme of events with a talk by David Fitton on the subject of “Gardening For All Seasons” on Friday April 11. This is an evening talk starting at 7.30 p.m. at the Village Hall and there will be refreshments and the customary raffle. Non-members are always welcome at a cost of £2 per person per event but new members would be welcomed at the very reasonable annual membership fee of just £10.00 for a family or £7.00 for an individual.

Saturday April 12 there is a courtyard sale at Sedlescombe rectory from 10am until noon. Come and have arummage and maybe find a bargain or two. All proceeds to the Paris Church.

Have you ordered your lilies ? Once again this year there will be Easter lilies on display at the Parish church. If you would like to donate a lily or lilies in memory of a loved one to decorate the church at Easter, please call Sylvia on 870688 or Margaret on 870808 to order at £2 each. . There is no limit to the amount of flowers that can be dedicated and this is a lovely way to remember departed family and friends. All names will be included on the roll of honour displayed in church on Easter Sunday along with the flowers which will be beautifully arranged creating the perfect backdrop for Easter tide.

You will be very welcome to visit the church over Easter, along with the services, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the flowers whilst having a cup of tea or coffee and home made cake on Sunday April 20 from 12pm until 4pm and also on Monday April 21 from 10am until 4pm.

Sedlescombe CE School are due to hold their Strawberry Fayre on Saturday June 28, 12noon till 4pm. This is a fantastic day out for all the family, with great attractions and side shows. They are currently looking for stall holders to make the Fayre an even better event.
