CHURCH SUMMER FAIR: A big day tomorrow, Saturday August 15 for St John the Baptist church again as they will be holding their annual summer fair in the church and churchyard from 12 noon to 3pm. All the games of chance and various stalls, plus cake and refreshments to keep you satisfied throughout the afternoon. There will also be an opportunity to view the before and after display of the refurbishment.
ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH FLOWER FESTIVAL
Congratulations to all the talented flower arrangements who gave their time and skills to create the flower festival last weekend in celebration of the reopening of the church. The theme of “Hats” was diversely displayed from sun hats, cooks hat and military with all sorts in between. My favourite had to be the scarecrows hat with the birds nest in it, which Kevin Mepham had created, only he would have been able to do that to the ancient font!
SERVICE OF CELEBRATION: There was a service of celebration last Sunday to give thanks for the reopening of St Johns the Baptist church after the major refurbishment of the floor and the under floor heating system. Many of the village attended to see the “new” church, I say “new” because the floor looks like it has always been as it is now, which is an achievement by Tolletts the builders from Rye. Years of fundraising have brought this project to fruition, so if you missed the opportunity to view it and the display of the work that was involved, the church will be open again for the fair mentioned above and of course there will be regular services every Sunday at 10.30am.
TALENT NIGHT IN SEDLESCOMBE: We are still on the hunt for performers for the above event. Do you love to entertain? Then come and be part of the show to be held in Sedlescombe village hall on Friday 18 September from 7pm. There is no entry fee and performers from all areas are welcome but limited spaces to give everyone a fair chance to shine on stage. There is a £100 first prize donated by Dorton Reclamation along with money prizes for the runners up. Nearer the date audience tickets will be on sale, so please mark your diaries to either take part or come along to enjoy the evening. Organised by the Friends of Sedlescombe Church Heritage Trust. To book your place to perform on the night please call Jean Dann on 882438.
