PARISH CHURCH ADVENT FAIR: This Saturday, November 28 St John the Baptist church invite you to their new look Advent Fair opening at noon. Light lunches will be served, home-made soup and roll and of course, tea and cake available throughout the afternoon. There will be all the traditional stalls to browse, Christmas cards bulbs in pots hopefully ready to flower for Christmas, pick up a gift for family or friends and for foodies a well-stocked cake stall, books , jewellery, lots of teddy bears, games of chance to play and as always toys and puzzles plus Hilary and Bill’s large wine raffle. The advent draw mentioned below will be drawn during the afternoon with a lucky person winning £200 towards the festive season. ADVENT DRAW: In advance of the Advent fair mentioned above, Sedlescombe Parish Church are holding an Advent Draw with tickets available from Sedlescombe Stores, the Queens Head and various sellers around the village. First prize £200 cash with many other great prizes from local businesses. Tickets are just £1 and the draw will take place on Saturday November 28 at the village hall. Please show your support by buying your tickets now.
CHRISTMAS FAYRE: The village school, also, have their Christmas fayre on Saturday November 28 from noon until 3pm. A busy day for the village in preparation for all your Christmas plans, luckily as they are not too far apart you will be able to visit at least one and hopefully both during the afternoon.
PESTALOZZI WINTER RAFFLE: The 2015 Winter Raffle has some incredible prizes to offer this year such as first prize £200 cash, second prize Christmas dinner ingredients for eight (worth £100 from COOK), third prize, a meal for two at The Queens Head plus many other super prizes, a full list can be seen on www.pestalozzi.org.uk. Tickets are only £1 and can be bought from Pestalozzi International Village Trust, The Queens Head Sedlescombe, The Clock House Sedlescombe, Sedlescombe Village Shop, COOK shop Battle and from Battle Memorial Hall. DECEMBER ART SHOW: The Powder Mills Hotel, Battle plays host to the December Art Show from December 1 to December 6 and is open every day from 10am to 8pm. The show gives you an opportunity to see the work of seven local artists including Sedlescombe artist Mark Fisher. Each one creating extraordinary and captivating art. Wildlife, architecture, landscape, cityscapes and portraits, impressionistic, abstract, figurative and realism. Executed in a variety of media including acrylic, watercolour, pen and ink, oil and mixed media incorporating textured surface, metal and collage. A feast of variety to enjoy, delight and intrigue. Comments from visitors last year included ‘A beautiful collection to visit’. ‘Irresistible artwork, so many that I wanted to take home, I bought some cards and I’m getting something special for Christmas’.
MINI MARKET AND COFFEE MORNING: On Thursday, December 3, the mini market will be in Sedlescombe village hall from 10am to 11.30am. There will be the usual stalls plus maybe some Christmas goodies. As always tea, coffee and scones, cheese or fruit or a mince pie for just a £1. All are welcome at this friendly event so please don’t miss this last date of 2015. Margaret writes to thank you for your support throughout the past year and looks forward to welcoming you in 2016 when the first coffee morning in that year takes place in February. FLOWER CLUB: The meeting for December 9 in Sedlescombe village hall is the club Christmas party social evening.
