SEDLESCOMBE AND DISTRICT GARDEN SOCIETY AGM: This evening, Friday November 9 in Sedlescombe Village Hall . Members will have received the AGM papers. The AGM is a way for you, the members, to have a say in how the Society is run, so go along and have your say. The official AGM business, will start promptly at 7.00 p.m. to be followed by guest speaker Dr Mick Lynn, who will give a talk entitled 'The Effect of Climate Change on Gardening' The evening will be rounded off with refreshments and the customary raffle.

REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICES: November 11 2018, the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, Services in Sedlescombe will take place at both St John the Baptist parish church, Church Hill and Chapel on the Hill, Chapel Hill. A traditional service at 10.45am at the parish church and at 3pm, a family service at Chapel on the hill followed by afternoon tea. Everyone is welcome to attend these free commemorative events.

FRIENDS OF SEDLESCOMBE CHURCH AGM: Tuesday November 13 at 6:30 p.m. Members are warmly invited to attend the Annual General Meeting of the Friends of Sedlescombe Parish Church Heritage Trust. This year the meeting will take place at Asselton House, The Green, Sedlescombe TN33 0QA. Please join us for this social occasion with the opportunity to meet your fellow members. If there are any members who would be interested in joining the Friends’ committee, please do not be shy in coming forward, more information can be obtained or to become a member, contact Pauline on 870412.

SEDLESCOMBE AND DISTRICT FLOWER CLUB: A lovely start to the run up to Christmas is the flower club Christmas demonstration on Wednesday November 14 at Sedlescombe Village hall. This year Christine Nash will be visiting to give her interpretation of “A Blooming Marvellous Christmas”. You are invited to come along and enjoy the evening doors open at 7pm, if you have never tried anything like this before, you might be surprised how enjoyable it all is. There will be the usual sales table but at this time of year, on offer will be everything you need for your festive flower arrangements as well as some special accessories. There will also be the opportunity to win one of the beautiful arrangements at the end of the evening alongside a very exciting general raffle. Tickets for the evening are just £8.50 which will include seasonal drinks and nibbles, and are available from Judy on 01424 870344 or Norma on 01797 223923 or on the door , it would help with catering if you could purchase in advance though.

FESTIVE OPERA WITH CAROLS EVENING: A festive evening with Thomasin Trezise takes place on Sunday December 9. Thomasin makes a welcome return to perform a Christmas concert including some light Neapolitan songs and carols with some audience participation to accordion accompaniment in our beautiful historic Parish church on Church Hill. Doors open at 6pm. SENIORS CHRISTMAS PARTY: This year’s party will take place at the village hall on Friday December 14 from 5.30 to 8.30pm . The evening will include a buffet meal, entertainment and a bar . Limited tickets at £5.00 are available or for further information please contact Reg on 870258

SEDLESCOMBE SCHOOL PTA: The School PTA have taken on the mammoth task of raising £50,000 to have the sports area resurfaced. They also have a GoFundMe page for donations. One of their next fundraising events will be their annual Christmas Fayre on Saturday December 1 from 12 until 3pm. Make that a date in your diary to support your local school. More details nearer the time.

BRA BANK: Gilly Wheatley at Siren and Pearl has arranged for a Bra Bank to be installed in the front lobby of The Queens Head Pub in Sedlescombe. This is the perfect way to support a worthwhile charity by donating any unwanted clean bras, in a plastic bag please. For every ton of bras donated Breast Cancer Care will donate £700 to help with pioneering breast cancer research.
