Sedlescombe and District flower club hold their annual dinner next Wednesday June 11 so please do not come to the hall ready for a meeting. Any further details please call Janet on 01424 773708. The club enjoyed a day out at Chichester Flower festival last week and a good day was had by all. The cathedral looked spectacular decorated with 70plus floral arrangements of varying size but mainly of majestic proportions to befit the setting. This event is a biannual one and I’m sure the club will consider visiting again. Next month a return to a visiting demonstrator at the village hall so please keep July 9 available to attend when you too will be shown some ideas to make your own beautiful displays.

Saturday August 2 the Sedlescombe and District Gardening Society will be holding a special 70th Anniversary Show on the Green. In addition to the Summer Show we will be holding a special exhibition celebrating the efforts of our gardeners in the village and beyond since the Second World War. There will contributions from other Sedlescombe Societies, and from other neighbouring garden societies, to make this a truly memorable occasion.

This will be a spectacular exhibition of the skills of Sedlescombe gardeners and friends. There are Show Classes for all to enter; cut flowers, pot plants, fruit and vegetables for the gardeners, floral art, domestic, handicraft and photographic sections for those without green fingers alongside a young gardeners section. You do not have to be a Garden Society member or even a Sedlescombe resident to enter, so please encourage your relations, neighbours, friends and their children to take part in this special celebration of 70 years of gardening in Sedlescombe.
