This Saturday June 8 the Fayre on Sedlescombe Green and in the gardens of the Queen’s Head will take place from 1pm. ’Happy Graham’, a diverse entertainer will be there at 1.30 to amuse the children and hopefully the adults as well. Once more the children from the school will be dancing around the maypole or should that be June pole at about 2.30pm.Their will be a barbecue organised by the chef from the Queen’s Head and a refreshment tent situated on the Green outside the Brickwall Hotel will be serving sandwiches and cakes, so a good opportunity to enjoy a seat on the Green and the sunny weather that has been ordered this time. There will be many of your favourite games including skittles wheel of fortune, hook a duck, play your cards right and that old favourite ‘splat the rat’ for the children and for adults, that is if they have fast reactions. Many local organisations and craft stalls will also help to create the day with something for everyone. The proceeds form the fayre will go to St Michaels Hospice, the British Heart Foundation and any money remaining to local good causes so please mark your diaries to give your support on the day.

After the sucess of their Putting on the Ritz event last month at the village hall, Sedlescombe and District Flower Club will be hosting their next meeting there on Wednesday June 12 at 7.30pm. This will be a social quiz evening so a good opportunity to get to know members and visitors over a quiz question and a cup of tea. You may even win a prize for your knowledge or perhaps in the raffle. Items for your floral arrangements will also be available to buy from the sales table. An update on our very own “Sedlescombe’s got Talent” evening on Friday June 14 at Sedlescombe village hall. We have an amazing line up of singers, musicians and other talented performers ready to entertain you on the night. In fact the programme list is now full and with our very friendly panel of three there to encourage and support the contestants it is shaping up to be a great evening. Audience tickets cost just £5 each and are available from Sedlescombe village stores or by phoning 870968. Hot food and a licensed bar will be available during the evening not to mention a super raffle. Organised by the Friends of Sedlescombe Church with all profits donated to the renovation of our Parish Church so please offer your support and come along. This is an evening not to be missed

Lots of planning is happening at the moment towards the main Sedlescombe fayre that will take place on the Sports field on Saturday July 27. There is the opportunity for local groups and craft workers to join in the day by having a stall around the field. If you are interested in this please use the contact details at the end of this writeup to requesta booking form. there will also be arena events including our local K9 rescue dog group, Hooe Village band dance time for the children and a demonstration from our local Zumba class. If you can not wait then please remember calsses take place every Thursday in the village hall Zumba at 7.30pm and Zumba Gold at 6.15pm. Zumba Gold is a fun, low impact, easy to follow, Latin inspired dance workout, suitable for the older adult or the complete beginner whilst Zumba, again Latin inspired,is an easy to follow, calorie burning, dance fitness workout. Rye and District Association of the National Trust ask you to a summer picnic on Saturday June 22 at Smallhythe Place from 5.00pm followed at 6.00pm by a performance in the Barn Theatre of ‘Celebrating Shakespeare’, a light hearted romp with the bard devised and directed by Peter Mould. It promises to be an amusing and entertaining event. Tickets at £12pp must be ordered from Ros Adkins on 01797 253763. They can also be purchased at Smallhythe Place reception desk prior to the event. As numbers are limited it is important to get your order in now.

The St Michaels Hospice Open garden for this week is on Tuesday June 11 and nice and local too at Sculdown , Chitcombe Road, Broad Oak, Brede TN31 6EX. Entry ticket is £4 and it will be open to visitors from 10.30am to 4pm raising funds for this good cause. Refreshments will also be available at the venue.
